Happy Birthday, Jim Henson. We miss you.
This post may sound very self-indulgent, but it is an achievement I am proud of, so I don’t care, and posting it in the hope that somebody may find it motivating and encourage them.
Three years ago tomorrow, I weighed 18st 7lbs (117.8kgs), and would have been classed as morbidly obese for someone of my height (5ft 8”). Exactly 6 months after that, I had dropped to 12st 5lbs (78.5kgs), losing a total of 6st (39.3kgs). Today, I have put on just under 10kgs of muscle and have got my body fat down to 12%.
Not to sound harsh but anyone who says ‘I can’t lose weight’, or make crap excuses or something similar, I call bullshit on you. To quote Tony Robbins “Everyone in life gets their musts…they don’t get their shoulds”. If you make something in your life a must rather than a want, then naturally, you will find a way to achieve that goal no matter the circumstances.
All this took was self-motivation (and a haircut). That’s it. Something inside me shifted and I have never turned back. Not only has there been the physical benefit, but my whole outlook to everything has completely changed. I have never looked back as it has made me a better person, and I can’t think of a single negative experience that has happened as an effect of this.
Maybe your goal isn’t weight or fitness related, who cares…you can apply the same principles to any goal. Make your should a must and see the difference for yourself.
